ABOUT THE E-CONFERENCE:

In view of continuing COVID-19 related challenges and uncertainties, ESH has decided to hold the conference How to Diagnose and Treat CML / MPN as a virtual event.

An outstanding faculty of distinguished global experts will present the most recent advances and new perspectives in the field of CML and MPN.

The plenary E-Conference programme is designed to place emphasis on leading-edge basic and clinical research. The presentation of unpublished data is encouraged. Ample time is deliberately provided for scientific discussion and interaction.

Registered participants will further benefit from opportunities for informal scientific interaction with the world’s leading experts in the field during closed Meet the Expert sessions and E-Mentored Posters Walks.

Participants will be joining us from all over the world and from different time zones. To make sure that everyone has access to the full scientific programme at a convenient hour, registration will allow participants to join both the LIVE PROGRAMME  and the PROGRAMME ON DEMAND.

– The “Live Programme” is to be found on programme page. It will be streamed live CET time, as indicated. It will include lectures, roundtable discussions, Meet the Expert sessions, interactive panel discussions, voting and Q&A periods, and Mentored Poster Walks. It will also include some pre-recorded lectures that will be streamed live, followed by their corresponding fully live Q&A period.

– The “Programme on Demand” available as of February 16, 2021, will initially include the pre-recorded components of the scientific programme. It will be progressively enriched by the meeting’s live, interactive components which will be recorded real time during the meeting.

The Virtual platform will remain open from February 16 until March 28, 2021 so that participants can view and review the programme’s full scientific content at times convenient to them.

We have selected a platform with the technical capacity and environment which we feel responds to ESH objectives in terms of learning, scientific interaction and conviviality.

We hope that you will be interested in joining us for this ESH E-Conference on How to Diagnose and Treat CML / MPN,

In the meantime Stay Safe!

 Programme Summary:

This second meeting organized by ESH to focus in depth upon the clinical management of patients with chronic myeloid leukemia and the myeloproliferative neoplasms, builds on the experiences and scientific progress since the highly successful Inaugural “How to Treat CML and MPN” held in Dublin in March 2019. This “ 2nd How to Diagnose and Treat CML and MPN” uses a case-based format to scrutinise with experts in the field relevant issues in diagnosis, prognostication, therapy selection, efficacy assessment, and management of toxicities for these patients. The format for this meeting will be highly interactive with a mixture of case-based didactic lectures, roundtable discussions regarding challenging clinical scenarios, and debates on controversial areas of management. This first ESH meeting for MPN occurring since the onset of the COVID19 Pandemic will cover the specific patient implications for CML and MPN patients. The faculty for this event represent the clinical and scientific leaders of the MPN community from around the world and we anticipate great opportunities for interactions and discussions. Clinical haematologists, hematology nurses, clinician scientists, hematology investigators, and those in training will find great value in attending and participating in this event.

This meeting will be valuable to you if you are looking for:

This unique meeting will be an intimate workshop with a case-based approach where active practicing haematologists and associated specialties will be able to learn from and interact with the global thought leaders in CML and MPN. Participants will gain at the meeting better insights into managing both common and uncommon clinical scenarios for these patients and return home to apply this knowledge for their patients. Many of the lessons learned relevant to MPN and CML management from the COVID19 Pandemic will be discussed (risks, medicine dosing, thrombosis issues, use of electronic virtual visits in care).

Learning Objectives:

  • To understand the current diagnostic criteria for MPN and CML, and their application particularly in challenging scenarios
  • To better understand the role of molecular mutation testing in diagnosis, prognosis, therapy selection and disease monitoring for CML and MPN patients
  • To be able to appreciate the clinical management of challenging scenarios in MPN (i.e. early MF, accelerated phase MPN, CML-MPN overlap, pregnancy and parenting, and CML blast crisis)
  • To better understand and apply current guideline based management of CML and MPN including stem cell transplant,
  • To be able to review the role and utilization of current approved therapies in CML and MPN (interferons, JAK inhibitors, TKIs), as well as the potential role of agents in development.
  • To discuss evolving issues of COVID19 (and other infectious risks) and management of MPN and CML

Topics:

  • Optimizing cytoreduction
  • Management of CML with TKI
  • MPN risk stratification including vascular events
  • Evolving therapies in Myelofibrosis
  • Management of advanced disease (MPN and CML)
  • Treatment free remission in CML

The programme will include:

  • Plenary Sessions
  • Interactive Cases Presentations
  • Roundtables
  • Panel Discussions
  • Debates
  • Poster Presentations
  • Voting Technology
