Video: Improving Communication Skills in the Clinical Setting

Communication between clinicians and both patients and their relatives is a key element of the delivery of the best clinical care. Without good quality communication the possibility of establishing a relationship of trust is at risk and without trust it is much less likely that patients will enter into a partnership with the clinician in following the treatment plan.

ESH has sponsored sessions in which a haematologist explores difficult conversations with actors taking the place of patient and relative. The resulting consultation is intended to represent as realistically as possible the difficulties faced by clinicians in practice, but takes place in front of an audience who are able to offer their reactions to the experience.

You are now able to participate in this experience through the following video.
